October 2021 Meeting Snapshots

Si Yu'os Ma'ase' to everyone who joined us during our October 16, 2021 virtual meeting held 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Guam time.  Although we couldn't meet face to face due to COVID-19, we are pleased that we're still able to empower you in our mission to promote literacy!  We hope you enjoyed the Rainbows for All Children presentation by Marie Virata Halloran, RN and Grief Recovery by specialist Michelle Sasomoto.  Studies have shown that if the social and emotional needs of our students are not met, they will struggle in their reading and other academic areas.  Therefore, the presentations today were timely, especially with the losses our students are currently facing in the midst of this pandemic.  We also thank Dr. James Sellmann, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, for joining us to accept the check donation from Guam ILA to co-sponsor the 34th Annual Regional Language Arts Conference (LAC), which will be held virtually on November 6, 2021.  Be sure to register for FREE for the LAC, because that's where we'll all be next month!  Congratulations to all the raffle prize winners and to the winners of the witch hat contest, namely Tina Buendicho for the Most Original and Geri Eclavea for the Scariest Witch Hat.  Stay safe, and we'll see you at the LAC next month!

Dr. James Sellmann, Dean of the UOG College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, virtually accepted the Guam ILA check donation of $500 to co-sponsor the 34th Annual Regional Language Arts Conference.
