Guam Treasures LLC donates 20 books to Guam ILA

In an effort to promote literacy on island, Guam Treasures LLC donated 20 copies of their book titled, “Neni Girl from Agat, Guam” written by local author Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez and illustrated by local artist Cianna Yanger, to the Guam Council of the International Literacy Association.  Guam Treasures LLC is a women-owned small business located in GuÃ¥han.  The Neni Doll Collection is a trademark of Guam Treasures LLC, which represents innovative designs and stories inspired by local cultural memories and values and the unique heritage of the island of GuÃ¥han and her people.  The initial collection launched in November 2021, featuring plush neni dolls Ana and Juan, with an accompanying children’s book by local author Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez illustrated by local artist Cianna Yanger.

Guam ILA Achieves Honor Council

Congratulations to the Guam Council ILA for receiving the ILA Honor Council Award!  Guam ILA has been instrumental in promoting literacy in Guam since 1968, and it will continue in its efforts to do so for many years to come.  Our mission is to develop an awareness of the powerful impact of reading, and we aim to make connections to the island's community through various literacy projects and events including our Annual Read-A-Thon, educator grants, Annual Language Arts Conference sponsorship, literacy workshops/presentations, professional development credit opportunities, local book donations and International book donations to our neighboring islands, affordable and resourceful books, tools, supplies, and engaging projects that promote literacy on the island of Guam and Micronesia at large.
