Guam IRA Donates Children's Books to Organizations -

On December 3, 2016, the Guam Council of the International Reading Association donated books to three organizations during its Annual Community Book Fair held at the Agana Shopping Center. The organizations that received the book donation include the Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Island Girl Power; and Pacific Islands Bilingual Bicultural Association.

IRA Co-Sponsors Annual Regional Language Arts Conference

The 29th Annual Regional Language Arts Conference held on November 18 and 19, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Guam was a success! Its theme was “Reading Writing Together: Collaborate to Callibrate.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Kevin Colleary who focused on "Reading Content, Reading Opinion, Reading Narrative: Reading ALL Sorts of Writing Together!" The plenary speaker was Dr. Margaruite Smith who focused on "Common Core Standards." The LAC was co-sponsored by the Guam Council of the International Reading Association. In Loving Memory of Margarita Meno "Ta" Yoshida

The IRA family extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Margarita Meno Yoshida, fondly known as “Ta” (familian Anako/Tisu) of Malojloj. Ta, a loving IRA friend and grandmother of IRA President-Elect, Margaret "Yoshi" Asuncion, was called to her eternal rest on April 13, 2010 at the age of 90. She will always be remembered. May she rest in peace.

Rosary is being at 6:30 p.m. weekdays and Sunday, followed by Mass at 7 p.m., with rosary on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 6 p.m. at San Isidro Church, Malojloj.

Funeral plans will be announced later.

Guam Author and Storyteller, Dottie Wintterle, to Hold Autograph Session April 10

Guam author and storyteller, Dottie Wintterle, will hold an autograph session for her new book titled Silent and Forgotten on April 10, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the IP Coffee Company in Mangilao.

Wintterle is the author of Grandma's Love and Grandpa's Love. She has been an educator for over forty years, specializing in elementary education. She came to Guam in 1969 as a teacher with a two-year contract and has made Guam her home ever since.

Eric Ode Captivates Angels at LBJ Elementary School!

LBJ Elementary School, known as the "Home of the Angels" was treated with an author visit by Eric Ode. The angels were captivated by his lively performance and writing process he shared, as part of poetry writing.
