Guam IRA Donates Children's Books to Organizations -

On December 3, 2016, the Guam Council of the International Reading Association donated books to three organizations during its Annual Community Book Fair held at the Agana Shopping Center. The organizations that received the book donation include the Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Island Girl Power; and Pacific Islands Bilingual Bicultural Association.

IRA Co-Sponsors Annual Regional Language Arts Conference

The 29th Annual Regional Language Arts Conference held on November 18 and 19, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Guam was a success! Its theme was “Reading Writing Together: Collaborate to Callibrate.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Kevin Colleary who focused on "Reading Content, Reading Opinion, Reading Narrative: Reading ALL Sorts of Writing Together!" The plenary speaker was Dr. Margaruite Smith who focused on "Common Core Standards." The LAC was co-sponsored by the Guam Council of the International Reading Association. Condolences for Beth McClure

The IRA family extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Beth McClure, our beloved former IRA President. She will always be remembered. God Bless her and her family. May she rest in peace.

Year End with Y-O-U!

During the IRA meeting held May 19, 2012, IRA installed its new officers for council year 2012-2013: President, Jonathan Pilarca; President-Elect, Debbie C. Duenas; Recording Secretary, Martha Sudo; Corresponding Secretary, Erlinda Arriola; and Treasurer, Geraldine Biliran.

IRA members were also treated to a special end-of-the year review and delighted by the work of local author Stephen Tenorio, Jr. He shared his first novel, An Ocean in a Cup. Congratulations to all!  Have a great summer!

Take Time Out to Shop

During the IRA meeting held April 14, 2012 , teachers whose students participated in the annual IRA Read-A-Thon were able to use vouchers to purchase items for their classrooms, including paperback and hardcover books, professional resources, novelties, and more.
