Annual Community Book Fair - Dec. 3


Join us for IRA's Annual Community Book Fair on Saturday, December 3, 2016!

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Venue: Agana Shopping Center

IRA Co-Sponsors Annual Regional Language Arts Conference

The 29th Annual Regional Language Arts Conference held on November 18 and 19, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Guam was a success! Its theme was “Reading Writing Together: Collaborate to Callibrate.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Kevin Colleary who focused on "Reading Content, Reading Opinion, Reading Narrative: Reading ALL Sorts of Writing Together!" The plenary speaker was Dr. Margaruite Smith who focused on "Common Core Standards." The LAC was co-sponsored by the Guam Council of the International Reading Association. Venue: Hyatt Regency Hotel (both days)

*Please note that there is a conference fee to attend the LAC. IRA members pay a discounted fee. Be sure to mention that you are an IRA member in order to receive the discounted rate.

**You can also earn 1 graduate credit for recertification purposes. You must be registered for the LAC before you can register for the PD894 LAC course. For course inquiries, e-mail Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera at mnrivera1@yahoo.com.

IRA Grant Winners



Sharon Deinhart, second grade teacher from Harry S. Truman Elementary, was presented a $500 check for her grant proposal entitled “Creating an Independent Reading Program-Growing Readers” from grant chairperson, Lois T. Gumataotao on Saturday, October 29, 2016.  Congratulations Sharon and best wishes on your project with your students and have fun!
